Faction Promotional Ranks. Promotional ranks are intended to be temporary role playing aids, used to reward particularly good service or to encourage promising characters; they are not permanent promotions and should not be treated as such. Promotional ranks may be allocated for any stretch of time, from a few hours to an entire year. The length of time a promotional rank is allocated for is entirely at the discretion of the person allocating the rank. Guild Apprenticeships. In addition to their command ranks, all guilds run an apprenticeship system which allows the members of each guild access to higher levels of training and resources. Rather than increasing a character's social, apprenticeships allow characters to purchase occupational skills at higher ranks than they would otherwise be eligible for. If you are interested in guild apprenticeships, you should approach the individual guilds for more information. Group Ranks.
The table above shows the minimum pre-booked numbers necessary for a group to receive a card of a particular rank. You can calculate the total number of ranks your group will receive using the method and example below. First, add up the total number of people in your group who have pre-booked for the Gathering. Use the table above to find the highest rank you should be entitled to. Divide your pre-booked group size by the figure in the 'number of pre-booked' players column opposite this rank. Subtract the resulting figure from your pre-booked group size.
Example: A group has sixteen players pre-booked for the Gathering. Using the table above, they work out that the highest rank the are entitled to is rank 4. They divide their pre-booked group size by the figure opposite rank 4 (15) and get 1 (all numbers are rounded down). They subtract 1 from their pre-booked group size, giving them 15. They now have one rank 4 and a new pre-booked group size of 15. They move to the rank below the highest they were entitled to (rank 3) and divide their new pre-booked group size (15) by the figure opposite rank 3 (7), getting 2 as a result. They subtract 2 from their new pre-booked size (15) and get 13. They repeat this calculation until they run out of available ranks. 16/15 =1 16-1 = 15 1 rank 4 deeds 15/7 = 2 15-2 = 13 2 rank 3 deeds 13/3 = 4 4 rank 2 deeds There are no lower ranks available, so the calculation ends.
