Occupational Skills

@ = Restricted Skills.
A number of occupational skills are difficult to teach or learn. They require regular training, practice and/or require constant expensive or rare components. Because of the effort required in both teaching and maintaining such skills, the number of people trained in them is restricted by the Guilds.
The need to train and practice a restricted skill, or the requirement for access to certain components, means that characters wishing to use this skill each year, must maintain contact with the teaching Guild. The training and practice takes place over each winter and prepares the person’s use of the skill for the following year.
Should a character leave the Guild for any reason, then it is up to the Guild command to decide if such training is maintained or to be withheld from the character. A character denied the continued training needed to maintain a restricted skill would lose that skill when their character card is issued the following year.
If such a person later regains the favour of the teaching Guild, then they can resume their winter training that year and start using the skill when it appears on their character card the following year.
Generally the restricted skills will be taught on a “first come, first taught” basis. Sometimes the Guilds may reserve a training position to a person who has performed truly outstanding deeds on behalf of the Guild, with in the last year.
If a restricted skill is made available to the Guilds and Factions then only a maximum of 5 Guild and 5 Faction people will be taught the skill each year. The 5 faction people being one from each of 5 factions.
If a restricted skill is made available to the Guilds, Factions and the generic characters then a maximum of 5 Guild and 10 non-guild characters will be taught the skill each year.
No character can purchase more than one restricted skill in any one year.

Number of OSPs you have.
OSP tokens are issued for attending events and are not transferable to other players. With the database, booking system and returned OSP purchase sheets from Games Control and the Guilds, it is easy to cross reference to see if you have spent the correct number of OSP points to purchase the skill or skills. If we find you have not earned enough OSP points, but have purchased the skill with other people’s tokens, we will not add the new skill to your character record and none of the OSP tokens relevent will be refunded.
If you lose your OSP tokens then they are lost, we will not replace them. OSP tokens are out of character items and can not be stolen in-character. We stronlgly advise you do not carry your OSP tokens unless you are on your way to the guilds or games control to spend them.
