Welcome to the Lorien Trust and the Occupational Skill.
In the world of Erdreja all characters have the ability to improve their
skills and knowledge within the world. This is done through OSPs. What
are OSPs? OSPs are the abbreviation for Occupational Skill Points.
OSPs are represented by tokens that customers gain for attending Lorien
Trust events. Each event booked earns you a set value of OSP points, either
1, 5 or 10 dependant on the event. The OSP system started moulding itself
back in late 96 and the first tokens and basic OSP skills were created
at this time. During the next couple of years various different skills
were tried out to see how they fitted in with the rest of the game system.
Some worked well and others caused problems, but tests had to be made.
The main point of OSPs is to allow players to create an extra depth to
their character, their background and their knowledge in the game world,
not to allow some players to become overpowered and imbalance the system.
Interaction between all players should be on a reasonably fair level,
whether that player is an old veteran of events or someone new at their
first event. This is not to say that the veteran should not have an edge
over the new player or have a greater understanding and knowledge within
the game. Many of the skills available will require the players
character to either have a prerequisite skill from the Players Handbook
or learn their way up through the levels of skill, i.e. must have level
one to buy level two.
Where further information is available on a subject a link will be provided
to the relevent subject.
The following page contains tables which are a quick reference to the
Guild Occupational Skills available, provide details of the OSP cost for
these skills (based on your characters Guild, Faction or Generic rank)
the links take you to the relevent information on each skill. The table
below provides a link to the guilds O.S.P tables.
Any prerequisite requirements for the skills listed are contained within
that skills description.
The skills are listed in rank order by guild. All you need do is click
on the relevent skill for the full description to appear in the top right
corner of the screen.
Certain skills have an @ symbol next to them. Due to their powerful nature,
there is a restriction on the available number of players that can or
will be trained in any one year. This will become more apparent as you
read the skill lists and see which of the skills are classed as restricted.
Please remember that in order to purchase an OSP skill that requires the
use of a projectile weapon you must have a Bow Competency Certificate
gained from the Archers guild. These skills are marked with a *.
