Third Level (High Incantation).
Countermagic 3
Type: Special
Vocals: By the high power of the Ancestors I resist that spell!
Actions: If cast on yourself, tear a level three spell card. If cast on
someone else, point at or touch the recipient and tear a level three spell
card.
Range: 30 feet
Effects: This spell functions in the same way as a first level countermagic,
except that it will resist the effect of any level one, two or three magic
effect cast against you, or against someone or something else. You must
begin the vocals of this spell within two seconds of the caster finishing
the vocals of the spell you wish to counter, otherwise you will take full
effect from the spell being cast at you. You cannot use this spell to
counter more than one person casting at you at the same time. This spell
has no effect on channelling powers (healing or necromantic), or on area
effect high magic.
Reaction: You can ignore the effects of the spell or incantation
being cast at you.
Courage
Type: Mind
Vocals: By the high power of the Ancestors I fill my/your heart with courage.
Actions: Touch the recipient. When cast, fill in the casting time on a
spell card and keep it handy, or give it to the recipient. Whenever required,
hold out the card and say "no effect"
Range: Touch
Effects: For the duration of this spell (twelve hours) the recipient is
completely immune to any fear, mass fear or terror. This incantation protects
against spell effects and natural abilities.
Reaction: Keep the spell card and check the time. After
the duration is over, rip the card in half.
Dismiss Unliving 5
Type: Special
Vocals: By the high power of the Ancestors, unliving I destroy you rank
5 (unless part of a wedge).
Actions: As an individual incantor or as the head of an incantor wedge,
point at the target unliving, possession or ancestral spirit. Tear a level
three spell card, or tear all cards contributed by incantors in the wedge.
As part of an incantor wedge maintain contact with the incantor in front
of you by holding onto their shoulders. All participants in a wedge must
pass their card for the dismiss forward to the head of the wedge so that
the total dismiss rank can be calculated.
Range: 30 feet.
Effects: Dismisses a single unliving of unliving rank 5. Several incantors
can each cast a dismiss unliving (first, second or third level) within
an incantor wedge, focussing the power towards the one incantor at the
front (head) of the wedge. This means that the head would be casting a
dismiss unliving equal to the sum of all the dismiss unliving incantations
cast within the wedge. When casting this spell as part of a wedge the
wedge head must substitute the rank number in the verbal with the total
number of dismiss incantor cards used by the wedge The head of the wedge
can break away from the wedge to cast the dismiss unliving but cannot
move more than ten feet forward from the rest of the wedge and must complete
the casting within ten seconds of breaking away. If the head of the wedge
is struck before the incantation is complete the spell will fail as the
focus is disrupted. A countermagic or iron will cannot stop a dismiss
unliving. Also due to the dismiss focus of all the wedge members to the
head of the wedge this person cannot be affected by any mind affecting
spells or powers during the ten seconds in which they must complete the
casting. The power of this incantation is such that it cannot be focused
by anyone who has not mastered the third level of incantations so the
caster must either be the focus of the wedge or standing second rank to
another person who is able to cast third level incantations. A countermagic
or iron will cannot stop a dismiss unliving.
Reaction: If you are an unliving, possession, or ancestral
spirit of a level equal to, or below, the level of dismiss being cast,
you should fall to the ground. You are dismissed.
Lay to Rest
Type: Special
Vocals: By the high power of the Ancestors I restore your corrupted pattern
and grant you rest.
Actions: Tear a level three spell card. Touch the body of the unliving
or role-play a ten minute ceremony for the deceased.
Range: Touch
Effects: If cast within ten seconds of an unliving being dismissed, the
corrupted pattern is restored and goes to the plane of death instead of
returning to the plane of unlife. The corrected pattern of an unliving
that has been laid to rest in this way cannot be contacted using any of
the speak with
incantations. If cast on a recently deceased body
(within 24 hours) this incantation sends the pattern to the plane of their
Ancestor and protects them from any form of pattern corruption. A dead
pattern that has been laid to rest in this way can be contacted, using
the speak with dead incantation. Lay to rest will counter the effects
of the rite of dedication dark incantation if cast on the same body within
24 hours.

Paladin's Armour
Type: Physical
Vocals: By the high power of Ancestors I call forth the armour of a paladin
to protect you/me from harm!
Actions: Tear a level three spell card. Touch recipient.
Range: Touch (may only be cast on an incantor or dark incantor).
Effects: This spell gives protection equal to heavy armour (three points),
on all locations, for one hour. If this armour becomes damaged due to
stopping blows it can be repaired by the wearer or by any other incantor.
It takes one minute of fully role-played ceremony to fully restore the
value of the armour on a single location. This repair requires no spell
cards. Only one incantor can work on each location, but several incantors
can repair different locations. This incantation can be recast but the
new one will automatically cancel the old one. The armour does not restrict
spellcasting of any level and has no effect on spells cast at the recipient.
A fatal wound will destroy the armour completely but causes no harm to
the recipient. This incantation cannot be combined with physical armour
or with any other form of magical armour. The heavy armour skill is not
required to use this armour. Armour mastery cannot be used with this armour.
Reaction: For the duration of the incantation you must role-play
wearing a full suit of heavy armour.
Protection from Paralysis
Type: Special
Vocals: By the high power of the Ancestors I give you freedom of movement.
Actions: Touch the recipient. When cast, fill in the casting time on a
spell card and keep it handy, or give it to the recipient. Whenever required,
hold out the card and say "no effect"
Range: Touch
Effects: For the duration of this spell (twelve hours) the recipient is
completely immune to any form of paralysis. This incantation protects
against both spells and natural abilities. This incantation will not protect
the caster from any damage effects that accompany a paralysis attack.
For example, a strike from a ghoul will still do one point of through
damage. This incantation does not make the recipient or caster immune
to any spell or ability except paralysis.
Reaction: Keep the card with you and check the time. After
the duration is over, rip the card in half.
Shield Against Unliving
Type: Special
Vocals: By the high power of the Ancestors I shield myself from unliving!
Actions: Tear a level three spell card. Recite the vocal and touch the
recipient
Range: Touch.
Effects: For its duration of ten minutes this spell prevents any unliving
of less than level 15 from reacting to, or attacking the recipient. Any
physical action or attack against an unliving will allow that being only
the freedom to attack.
Reaction: Rip the spell card. For the duration of this spell,
you are protected from unliving. If an unliving approaches you raise your
hand and say "shield against unliving".
Speak With Ancestor
Type: Special
Vocals: Role-play a ten minute ceremony of conversation with a specific,
named Ancestor.
Actions: Tear a level three spell card. Inform a senior referee of the
question you are asking, then role-play a ten minute ceremony questioning
the Ancestor.
Range: N/A
Effects: This incantation requires the caster to conduct a ten minute
ceremony. It allows the caster to ask a detailed question of a specified
Ancestor. The question may be anything, but the Ancestor will reply as
it sees fit and from its point of view. The Ancestor's responses are usually
heard inside the head of the caster, although from time to time Ancestors
will answer in other ways. This incantation requires the presence of a
senior referee. This incantation can be used to gain information on the
abilities or powers of items and individuals but answering such a question
takes much longer than normal and a reply may not be received for several
hours.
