We cannot answer this question, however, we can give you some good advice
on how to try live role playing and hopefully that will lead you to the
answer you want.
Where do we start? I guess with the rules, Live Action Role Playing or
LARPing is after all a game and all games have rules. This is no exception.
The rules for the Lorien Trust role playing system are available online
here. The links
to the rules section will provide you with information on how to play
the game. These sections are split into relevant sections such as Campaign
Setting, Combat, and Character Creation. You can read these online or
the whole rules document can be downloaded.
At this point, the two sections you should be paying the most attention
to are; the Campaign Setting and Character Creation. After all, you're
going to need a character to play. Your character you can create yourself.
We cannot and will not tell you what you should play, you need to make
these choices yourself. The background section gives you information on
what choices there are when it comes to playing a role and the character
section helps you build that character.
What we can do is give you advice that helps, such as costume. Don't worry,
everyone at the event is doing the same as you, including dressing in costume
to portray their character more effectively. The costume worn at live
role-play is dependent upon the event you attend. The Lorien Trust events
are based on a mix of medieval to 16th century European costume and as
such, you should use this as your basis when considering costume and weapons.
Choosing the right costume will make it easier for you to play your character
and for others to be able to identify you. You may want to look in the
traders and resources sections on the links page to get some ideas of
costume and weapons available.
All of this does not tell you how to live role-play, what it tells you is
how to play the game and gives some advice on looking and feeling the
part. To live role-play you need to attend an event and as long as you
are willing to try the rules and advice on costume the actual role playing
will follow.
We're not saying you're going to win Oscars, but just having a go is the
only way to learn. If you don't believe us come along and try it
