Lorien Trust Healers Guild
The Healers Guild is dedicated to the preservation of life. Led by a Grand Master, who has drunk from the Source of Life itself, and assisted by the life masters, the Healers gain their membership from all professions and nations of the Heartlands who possess the skills of the Healer or the physician. Those who join the Guild start with the rank of Probationer, and can rise through the ranks of Attendant, Guardian, Lifekeeper, and finally Guild Warden, where they will take on a lot of the responsibility for the day to day management of the Guild. The Healers are renowned for their ability to heal almost any wound or affliction and their willingness to rush into great danger to heal the fallen. Almost every civilised person or creature respects the Healers and few indeed are those that will harm one. As one progresses through the ranks of the Guild, training is available that enhances one’s ability to heal and preserve life. The Guild sells healing potions and salves, and other items to aid in the preservation of life. Those who have the skill to heal, are special, and by their very vocation set apart from all others. Theirs is the chance to give back to the land, and to preserve its beauty. Such a skill is not found, it is born. The Healers Guild acts in the role as caretakers to the well being to life in Erdreja. This duty is taken as being a calling of service higher than any personal loyalty or opinion. The Guild also undertakes to train its members in the mundane arts of the physician and further the magical arts of Healing. They also work closely with the Alchemists Guild in creating potions of curing, and developing antidotes to poisons. The Healers Guild also concerns itself with fighting the spread of all illnesses, particularly some of the virulent diseases that have at one time or another plagued the Heartlands. Whilst most are curable by magical means, it is not all people who have access to the ministrations of a gifted Healer. Therefore, more natural cures must often be found, a matter that the Guild seeks to address. The organisation has also adopted a charter that outlines the right and privileges of its members and provides a guideline to achieve its neutral policy of non-political involvement. Copies of this charter are freely available from any Healers Guild House.
